Change a deck without rebuilding it

Decks open slide by slide. Type right on the slide in the deck's own fonts and bullets, move, resize and turn boxes, pictures and shapes, and add or reorder slides. Only what you changed is rewritten, so the design, animations and speaker notes stay as they were.

What you can do on a slide

The slide you edit is live: what you type shows on it at once, and its thumbnail follows.

  • Double-click a box and type where you clicked, or type in a list of every box on the slide, each table cell included.
  • Bold, italic, size and colour for a whole line.
  • Drag a box, picture or shape to move it, with edges and centres snapping to the slide and to each other.
  • Resize from a handle and turn from the round one; the arrow keys nudge, and undo takes a move back.
  • Add a text box or a picture from your computer.
  • Add, duplicate, move and delete slides from each slide's menu.
  • A box set to shrink its words to fit does so as you type, and saves the size as PowerPoint does.

Which files open

You addWhat happens
PowerPoint (.pptx)Opens slide by slide and saves as .pptx.
Older PowerPoint (.ppt) and OpenDocument (.odp)Brought into a .pptx deck as you add it, with the Office pack. The file you added is kept.

With the free Office pack (LibreOffice), added once in Settings › Office File Conversion, the slides are drawn exactly as designed, and Make a PDF copy in the deck's menu gives one page per slide. Without it, slides are drawn plainly and can still be edited.

Questions

Do I need PowerPoint to edit slides in Sopycat?
No. Sopycat opens, edits and saves .pptx decks itself. With the free Office pack (LibreOffice), which Sopycat downloads when you ask, the slides are drawn exactly as designed; without it they are drawn plainly, with their words, pictures and colours, and can still be edited and moved.
Will my design, animations and speaker notes be kept?
Yes. Saving changes only the characters and shapes you changed. Each paragraph keeps its font, size, colour and bullets, and the design, pictures, animations and speaker notes stay exactly as they were.
Why does a slide look slightly different from PowerPoint?
Usually a font. A deck set in a font this computer doesn't have is drawn with a stand-in, so a line can wrap differently on screen. Sopycat names the font, and the deck itself is unchanged; install the font to see the slides as designed.
Can I add or reorder slides?
Yes. Each slide's menu adds a blank slide after it on the same layout, duplicates it, moves it up or down, or deletes it.
Is my deck uploaded anywhere?
No. Decks are opened, edited and saved on your computer. Nothing is sent to Sopycat or to an AI service.
