Combine files into one PDF

- Drag rows into order, or use the arrows on each row.
- Name just the pages you want from a longer PDF, such as 1-3, 5.
- Choose the page size, the way pictures turn and the margin around them.
- Put the PDF in your library, where it opens ready to sign or send, or save it as a file.

A whole folder at once
Batch jobs work through every suitable file in a folder, and its subfolders if you tick it, and put the results in a folder of their own with the same names.
- Make smaller: shrink every PDF for the screen, for print or at the highest quality.
- Make searchable: run text recognition (OCR) on scanned PDFs and pictures, in English.
- Convert to PDF: Word, Excel, PowerPoint files, pictures and notes.
Questions
- Are my files uploaded to convert them?
- No. Converting, combining and batch jobs all run on your computer. Convert files never overwrites anything: results go beside the originals or to a folder you choose, and a new file with the same name gets "(2)". Batch jobs write their results to a folder of their own.
- What is the Office pack, and do I need it?
- It is LibreOffice, a free office suite that Sopycat uses to convert Excel, PowerPoint, older Word and OpenDocument files, and PDFs into Word. Pictures, PDFs into pictures or text, Word (.docx), text and web pages convert without it. Add it once in Settings › Office File Conversion.
- Does a PDF turned into Word keep its layout?
- Only roughly. The words come across, but a PDF has no paragraphs or columns of its own, so the layout of the Word file is approximate. A scanned PDF has no words at all until you make it searchable (OCR).
- Can I pick only some pages of a PDF when combining?
- Yes. A PDF with more than one page has a box on its row where you name the pages you want, for example "1-3, 5".
- Can it work through a whole folder?
- Yes. Batch jobs make every PDF in a folder smaller, make scans searchable, or turn Word, Excel, PowerPoint files and pictures into PDFs, into a folder of their own, with subfolders too if you tick it.
